My mathematics leadership journey began in 2008 when I took my first high school mathematics job. Little did I know that the person running the new teacher induction for math teachers, Mona Toncheff, would soon become my mentor, friend and inspire me to be the best math leader I could be. I would not be where I am in my career without her unconditional support and her ability to stretch and challenge you so that you never stop growing!!

Member Story

I am currently a High School Math Content Specialist for Chicago Public Schools, supporting over 160 high schools through a 3 Tier model. Prior to this role, I was a Principal in Abu Dhabi, UAE and Assistant Principal in Phoenix, AZ. Before transitioning into these leadership positions, I was a high school and middle school math teacher for 11 years. I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of WI of Milwaukee in K-8 Education with a minor in mathematics and after moving to AZ I received my Master’s in Secondary Curriculum & Instruction, Masters in Educational Leadership and Doctorate in Education Leadership from Northern Arizona University. My experience includes supervising the culture change from teacher isolation to professional learning communities, how to embed formative assessment into daily curriculum, creating rigorous district assessments aligned with common core standards and rolling out standards based grading district wide in math & all contents at MTHS. I truly love my job and am so proud of the work our team does as it is creating structures to ensure all kids are learning mathematics at high levels!
